I have been to Sedona many times and it is quite stunning even from the pullouts and overlooks. But I wanted something more.
I am attracted to water like no other subject and I was frustrated by my previous attempts to capture the beauty of Oak Creek. I determined to walk IN the creek to get the compositions I wanted. One big problem; the water is cold! I bought an insulated pair of chest waders, hiked (awkwardly!) down the bank to the water and hoped I would not spill my camera gear into the creek. I navigated the creek in slow motion, as the bottom, though clearly visible, is really slippery. Loaded down with gear I was still able to keep one hand free, using my tripod as a hiking stick. There were several close calls but neither I, nor any camera equipment was damaged or got wet during this adventure.
For my next trick, doing it in the Winter to capture the creek blanketed in snow...
