Abandoned motel, Picacho Arizona
I am glad I have this photo. This place was bulldozed some years ago and the freeway rerouted over it. Despite it being what you might call 'freeway blight' or a bit of 'abandoned America' I always enjoyed seeing it as I drove through. Empty spaces like this appeal to me for what ever reason..because I am an only child? Am I an old soul way deep down, whatever that means..? I don't know but I see life in this photo regardless. Bold colors against a bold blue sky, the letters still loudly proclaiming the message that you can park your RV and do laundry, I love the 'color tv' sign. Remember when these motels had cathode ray tube tv's that were nearly as large as a refrigerator? This is a place, no longer useful, that refuses to give up..just yet.
